Position Summary

As the Manager of Human Resources, you will report to the CEO and be a member of the Strategic Leadership Team. The Manager of Human Resources is responsible for managing and directing the Human Resources functions of recruitment and talent acquisition; employee relations; performance management; training and development; and benefits. You will support the consistent and fair application of agency policies, procedures, and practices, while consulting with team members on people matters. You will advise and coach program and administrative leaders in HR functions and act as the main HR contact for the Strategic Leadership Team.

Responsibilities

  • Recruitment and Talent Acquisition: Spearhead the recruitment process including overseeing sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding new employees in collaboration with EJHS program leadership
  • Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted advisor and resource for employees, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and conflict resolution. Foster a culture of open communication, respect, and collaboration
  • Performance Management: Implement and oversee performance management systems to drive employee engagement and development. Provide coaching and support to managers in conducting performance evaluations and setting goals
  • Training and Development: Identify learning and development needs across the agency to enhance employee skills and capabilities. Oversee the agency’s Learning Management System (LMS)
  • HR Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations. Stay informed about changes in legislation and industry best practices, implementing policy and procedure updates as necessary, to mitigate risk and promote fairness
  • Team Leadership: Provide coaching, feedback, and development opportunities to foster personal professional growth
  • Benefit Oversight: Support the administration of benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, and terminations. Work closely with the agency’s Executive Leadership Team (ELT) on best practice and standards in employee benefit plans
  • Documentation Management: Oversee maintenance of records and documentation, including personnel files, of employee records, employment policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or related field required
  • CHRP (or actively working towards) designation is considered an asset
  • At least five years experience as an HR Manager or similar role, with a deep understanding of HR principles and practices
  • Previous experience in the not-for-profit sector or with a community agency is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate a team
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Ability to travel to various program sites within Edmonton
  • Demonstrated experience managing and analyzing data, interpreting findings, communicating analyses and results, and making sound recommendations based on findings

Conditions of Employment

  • This position is located at Transition Place, 401, 10010 105 Street
  • The hours of work are 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday

Salary

The salary range for this position is $90 000 to $110 000 annually.
