Adult & Youth Support Services (AYSS):
- Is open to participants 16 years of age and older.
- Can be accessed by individuals with or without justice status.
- Offers long term and short term one on one support.
- Operates on a voluntary basis.
- Provides knowledge of community resources such as; basic needs, housing, legal services, community meals, education, employment preparation and counselling services.
- Helps participants to complete applications (employment, education, identification, funding etc).
- Assists with resume writing, job search, interviewing techniques and follow up practices.
- Support with job maintenance and resolve workplace conflicts.
- Provide information on Record Suspensions and assist with the application process.
- Assists with pre and post release planning for those transitioning from Federal or Provincial prison systems into the community.
- Provides pre-release planning packages and community resources.
- Provides institutional supports to incarcerated persons (via telephone).
- Provide supports to friends and family members who have loved ones incarcerated or involved in the criminal justice system.
- Knowledgeable in community resources such as, basic needs, housing, legal services, community meals, education, employment programs and counselling services.
- Assists with appropriate community referrals.
- Encourages and teaches participants to advocate for themselves.
Hours of Operation…
Monday to Friday
8:30am – 11:30am and 1:00pm – 4:00pm
Wednesday
Open- 8:30am – 11:30am
